A local rumour claims that if Doctor Livingstone had come across Tongabezi first, he may never have discovered the Victoria Falls, he simply would have settled in!
Tongabezi is a mere 20km upstream from Victoria Falls, on the banks of the Zambezi, overlooking Victoria Falls National Park and it wonderfully reflects the enigmatic spirit of ancient Africa. Having been described as the “the abode of the Gods” is accurate as the architecture is dominated by nature and every room is “a room with a view”. The chalets are romantically illuminated with lamps and candles for those special evenings. Lawn tennis and croquet complete the colonial atmosphere with friendly staff serving ice cold drinks.
